| Nicholas Ruiz III, Democratic Party Candidate for Congress in FL-District 24, on the Tax Cuts (Press Release) - December 28, 2010 Everything is a reflection of something else. What do the tax cuts reflect? The tax cuts reflect laws and lawmakers that overtly favor the fortunate and penalize the less than fortunate. Increasingly regressive tax and asset policies that sequester wealth and lower taxes for citizens whose incomes have exploded upwards in recent decades, while effectively ignoring the income contraction and declining standard of living of most other citizens, are the work of Reaganite zombies of every political stripe that continue to hurl our society toward neomedieval feudalism, where most new 'jobs,' from physicians to cashiers, are essentially that of postmodern service worker sharecroppers. Between taxes, high interest debt, indefensible usury fees and late charges, low wages and soaring commodity prices - the future of the average citizen under such rule will be that of virtual peonage and debt bondage. We are all equal children at the table of America. Why give some at that table their fourth or fifth piece of cherry pie (i.e. tax cuts for the most fortunate) when there are some at the table who have yet to have their first piece of cherry pie (i.e. a decent job with fair wages and benefits)? Put a progressive Democrat in Congress. |
