I am a painter of modern art, working with poetry,
music and painting, I like to establish exchanges between the different forms
of art.

en train de préparer une
exposition avec un compositeur d’origine
argentine qui s’appelle Esteban Benzecry.
At present I am preparing an exhibition together with
the Argentine composer Esteban Benzecry
Estoy preparando un exposicion con el composidor de
origen argentina Esteban Benzecry.
Nous allons faire un
travail à partir d’un rouleau de musique de piano mécanique, que je vais
peindre en couleur; à côté je présente des planches picturales qui représentent
la partition musicale du rouleau, donc cela sera la représentation statique de
la partition visuelle et musicale du rouleau de piano mécanique.
The base of our common
work is a player roll for the mechanical piano (pianola), which I am going to paint. Beside this work
I will present painted boards that reproduce the music partition of the roll,
which means it is the static representation of the visual and musical roll of
the mechanical piano.
Vamos a hacer un trabajo
partando de un rollo de musica
de piano mecanico que voy a pintar con colores. Ademas estoy preparando tablas picturales
que representan la partidura musical del rollo, es decir seran
la representation statica
de la partidura visual y musical del rollo del piano mecanico.
La première chose, c’est
que j’ai besoin d’une partition musicale. A partir de cette partition, nous la
transférons sur une disquette sur un fichier midi international, ce qui nous
permet de réaliser un rouleau à musique avec un ordinateur performant qui
perfore automatiquement d’après la disquette. Ce travail se fait en Allemagne
de l’Est.
What I need first is a music score. Proceeding from
this score, we are transferring it to a midi file disc, which allows us to make
a music roll by using a computer. This part of the work is done in

Quand il y a un accord
avec la musique et les arts plastiques, il y a comme un échange entre la
musique et la peinture et c’est une communication qui se fait entre le
compositeur et le plasticien, il faut voir ça comme un ensemble.
When there is an agreement between music and modern
art, there is an exchange between music and painting, there is then a
communication going on which is being established between the composer and the
painter. It has to be seen as a common work between both.
Cuando hay un acuerdo
con la musica y la arte moderna, existe un intercambio
entre la musica y la pintura, es como una comunication entre el composidor
y el artista. Hay que ver eso como un conjunto.
Je travaille d’une
manière abstraite et géométrique à partir de rythmes comme si je ressentais des événement sonores, donc des évènements sonores
correspondants à des espacements sonores.
I am working in an abstract and geometrical way
according to rhythms as if I were feeling sound events, i.e. sound events
corresponding to sound spaces.

J’écoute d’abord la
musique et ensuite dans le silence, je peinds.
First I listen to the music
and then I paint in silence.

Je reproduis
plastiquement un ensemble qui me semble cohérent, en général j’utilise des
bombes, parce que d’une part le papier est très fin, et je ne veux pas abîmer
le papier, pour qu’il puisse fonctionner dans la cage du rouleau de piano
mécanique donc pour des raisons techniques, je bombe les couleurs.
I produce a unity, that seems coherent to me;
generally I use color sprays because the paper is very thin and I don’t want to
damage the paper, so that it still functions in the piano box of the pianola, that is to say I use sprays for technical reasons.
Reproduzco un conjunto
que me parece coherente. Generalmente utilizo spray de colores porque el papel
del rollo es muy delicado y no quiero estropear el rollo para que todavia funciona en la casilla
del piano mecanico.
Ce qui m’intéresse ce
sont les rencontres entre les gens, les rencontres que l’on peut faire en
fonction d’une réflexion autour d’un travail artistique et à partir du moment
où une rencontre se fait et un échange se fait je trouve que c’est intéressant.
What I am interested in is the encounters between
people, the encounters one can have depending on the reflection around an artistical work ; what I am interested in is when an
exchange is taking place, I like that.
Lo que me interesa son
las encuentras entre la gente. Las encuentras que pueden ocurir
con una reflexion alrededor de un trabajo artistico. Para mi es interesante cuando un intercambio
tiene lugar.
